Consistency

I am looking for consistency, how do you get it? Do you have to play everyday? I get out on average 3 times a month but I hit shots in the yard all the time, plus I always have a club in my hand in the house doing mirror work. I know that scoring has to come from playing but that doesn't concern me that much, I am looking for solid hit shots. I have been playing in a few tournaments this year and have been so inconsistent. My last tournament I played in was a 2 day 18 hole medal play and the first day I hit the ball very good but didn't score great and still shot a 72, I can't complain about par but my putting was a bit off, it should of been a 68. So I was looking forward to the next round thinking I hit the ball great but putted mediocre, I should be able to shoot something under par, WRONG. I couldn't hit a solid shot all day and shoot a fat 83. I understand that scoring is fickle and some days the putts are not going to fall but what about the golf shots? Should I expect to hit solid shots most everyday? It amazes me how one day I am hitting the ball so solid and controlling the ball at will and the next I feel like a hack. What causes such inconsistency? Matt

I know Brian always talks about customization and how he can find the best pattern for each player. But I still think some patterns require less practice or maintenance than others (given a certain level of talent).
