I have purchased 2 sets of clubs in my life, Spalding Executives from the early 80s and a set of Ping Zings off of Ebay last year. That’s ok, because up until recently, I didn’t play much golf. However, I am now playing as regularly as the weather and my schedule permits, and have decided to upgrade the equipment.
After reading from Tom Wishon’s book, “The Search for the Perfect Golf Club,” and considering some of the inconsistencies (1) of my game, I have decided to get custom fit and have some basic questions:
I would like a dynamic fit, not just a static fit and live in Seattle – can anyone recommend a club fitter nearby?
If I get custom fit and measured, will the results transfer from one brand of clubs to the next? In other words, is custom fitting generic or brand specific?
For those of you that have had custom fitting, what were the results and what should I be looking for?

(1) While most of the clubs seem to do ok, my driver on the other hand is a different story. I can draw it, slice, hook it, fade it, push it, pull it, or occasionally hit is straight, but I just can’t seem to tame it!
