Damon Lucas' Taylor Made MATT system in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.....

I would like to personally thank Damon Lucas for hosting us this past weekend at his facility at Lake Presidential Golf Club in Maryland. His newly constructed indoor/outdoor teaching building is unbelievably nice and well equipped. The Taylor Made MATT system is obviously state of the art, but Damon won't just use it for club fitting - he will teach and do research with it that will further the understanding of the golf swing. I know he is just scratching the surface as to unleashing the power that the MATT system will provide. What we saw this weekend is that you can use the system in an infinite amount of ways that will allow the operator to help most every student reach their potential. I dare say that Damon will find a way to use the technology to its fullest which, unfortunately, is a departure from how most high end golf analysers are used in the business today. Just like Brian has made it his business to maximize his understanding of Trackman data, Damon will do the same with the MATT system. It will be fun to stay abreast of all the secrets that Damon will discover. Good luck, buddy...we're awful proud of you here in Kentucky.

It was great too see everyone (visit was too short). The facility is fantastic and I agree will go a long way to understanding people and their swings.

What did you guys learn about your swings that you might not have known before hand?

Not "our" swings....THE SWING!

Project 1.68 got a huge boost as we got to see in 3D, lots of the things we had been hearing from the scientists.

And we did a bunch of Manzella Teacher Training, and we added to new instructors to our fold (announcement soon).

Thanks Damon, you were great host as always!

Folks, if you want an ultimate TaylorMade fitting experience, this is the spot.

:)

I was really trying to make it down last weekend, Damon had invited me. I just had too much going on. ( I'm divorced, I had my kids ) Really wanted to meet Brian and the other guys! I will get there very soon - cannot wait to see it!

I would also like to thank Damon for inviting me down last weekend. As i posted in an earlier thread, he has a fantastic facility and is just in general a great guy to work with. I was fortunate enought to meet everyone, and get a little insight into where Brians thoughts are related to optimizing the swing. Unfortunately, when Brain asked me to step up and hit a few, nerves go the best of me and i proceeded to hit 5-6 shanks in row. Pretty embarassing i must say. But if your gonna blow up, do it in front of Brian and his team. Two minutes later Brian had me somewhat straightened out. Anyway, thanks again to all, Damon i know you will be very successful with your new facility. And Brian, ill see you this summer on your tour stop back up here.

Great Facility, Great Group

Like Peter I was lucky enough to observe this past weekend. Unlike Peter I didn't have to put my swing to the test in front of 8 teaching pro's: talk about pressure  That took some cajones Pete...
I want to thank Damon for being such a gracious host, and the rest of the group for making this golf junkie (albeit with limited technical knowledge) feel right at home.

The MATT system is a really amazing piece of technology. I have no doubt that some popular theories will be validated or obliterated by the data that it generates; as well as making some profound new discoveries.

I felt really privileged to participate and have to say that these guys all bring a unique perspective to the table. The dialogue back and forth was really good and ideas were being offered and challenged by all. I came away feeling like I had just seen something special: like Disney imagineering or GE's innovation factory.

Keep it up gentlemen.

I forgot to also thank Phil Rosenbaum and Parker Parsons for their generosity and insight during the visit to Lake Presidential - great hosts all the way around!

I was fortunate enough to expereince the Taylor Made MATT system recently at the International in Bolton, MA. I would completely agree that it is the real deal. Find one and go check it out.....you will learn from it.

Mike, It was my pleasure. Sorry i had to miss dinner monday night, but my little champion puppy needed his daddy! SIDENOTE and certainly off topic but his show name, as registerted with the AKC is Cameos ( breeders name ) Closest to the Pin. We will just call him Zeke though.

I felt for Peter during those first couple swings.... It did not take him long to hit some nice high solid shots and I am quite sure he will work hard at it to continue to prioduce quality golf shots. but to all of the golfers out there remember one thing.

no matter what you do, we have seen worse!

We really challenged the staus quo this past weekend,

Thank you Damon for having the vision to take on such a wonderful plan. I wish you all the success and encourage anyone that can to go see wonders of 3d in the hands of talented instructor.

Hi guys,

It was a pleasure to host, and as usual when Brian and the guys are involved, we all learnt a huge amount that will continue to be applied to our students to help them improve first and foremost, and secondly, understand the process on a much better level.

I got the word today that it is ok for me to provide a lot of images from the MATT system to help explain various technical ailments, so hopefully we will be able to add YET ANOTHER layer of class to the expertise and interactions that this forum provides.

As of now, the best thing about the MATT system is that it provides a clear visual understanding to all the numbers and words that are provided by the LM's in the fitting process, as well as a visual and kinasthetic smorgasboard to aid the instructor with the students.

can the MATT system be used for putting?

Hi bcoak,

Yes, it can. Very good for understanding your allignments, clubface at address, impact, a lot of the stuff Puttlab does but with more visual clarity. We should have a putting launch monitor soon to gauge roll, backspin, and various 'parameters'!

I feel reasonably capable of helping pretty well anyone with the TM Performance Lab combined with my knowledge.

First of all the MATT System is awesome! If you get a chance to go and take a lesson or get custom fit for clubs you should do it at Damon's facility. It is first class all the way. Thanks goes out to our wonderful hosts: Damon, Phil, and Parker. It was great to see all the guys and I hope we can get together again real soon.

You ain't the only one to hit that many shanks in a row. I've seen it many times and have done it myself.

Neat stuff all in all. Will look forward to seeing new stuff as it comes. :)
