Short answer because I have a hyperactive 4 year old ready to go to the Ultimate Playzone, but yes, psychological factors are to me.
They are less important than knowing what you do, knowing how to do what you want to do and approximately how well you can do it now.
Positive thinking may have some short term benefits, but possibly some long term ramifications if your skill set is not up to par.
Routines are good, but the best antidote to poor results is just to get better, and to know the why and how so you can continue the process and get even better still.
