De-Lagging Mr. Howell and Brittney....

At dinner at the Outback at the SUMMIT, we were joking about ole LEAD de-lagging Charles Howell.

At the table was Ben Doyle, GSED; Da Stallion, GSED; Mark Diamond, GSED; Tom Ness, top 100 teacher; Scott Davenport, top 100 teacher; Steve Khatib, GSEM and one or two more top teachers.

The Manz, ended the disscussion thusly:

"De-Lagging Charles Howell would be like flattening out Brittney Spears with a sports-bra."

Does Howell have too much lag in his downswing? What is Leadbetter getting him to do to de-lag?

Sergio has some serious lag angle too but he also re-cups his left wrist as he enters the downswing. That will give you extra lag but you will have to eliminate it drastically through Impact to achieve a flat and centrifugally-extended left wrist.

There's not enough lag in the universe to save a swing which let's the handle back up. On the other hand, Howell with his flat left wrist through Impact and beyond, CANNOT have too much lag.

As for Sergio, he drops his hands down behind himself, just like Hogan did. What you refer to as re-cupping is downcocking. His left wrist is flat, it just looks cupped because of his strong grip.

Does sergio's swing really look much different than before? I just don't see that much of a difference other than he is playing faster.

Brian, Did you know Ness from previous summit trips? Did you get the impression he knew his stuff(TGM)? This is not a loaded question. I only ask because I think he is the closest top 100 instructor from my house.
