We've all heard it a thousand times and mostly about Tiger but I never really understood what it meant exactly. Is it when the body outraces the arms? I'm sure theres even different thoughts of what it means and what causes it so lets here it.

I am under the impression that there two reasons for feeling "stuck". Correct me if I am wrong.

The first is when the hips do not clear fast enough in the early downswing and the right elbow gets jammed behind the right hip, which hasn't cleared.

The second is when the hips clear much too fast and the hands and clubshaft are so far behind that they cannot be brought forward and around towards the ball along an inside track. The hands get thrown directly outwards and produce an unwanted push.

Jeff.

multiple things
hands are too close to body at set up and do not leave enough room during the swing
lift up during swing with brings hips out closer to the ball so they get in the way of the elbow coming
elbow out of position, you could say it seperated too far from the left elbow, flying elbow or what not
some players clear their hips very fast some very slow, so i am not sure that has much to do with it but what do I know, I could be wrong

What it means....

I think the tern is total and complete JUNK.

But, if you want a definition of the way it is used...well...ok...:

Stuck (Behind You) -

When the club gets below plane on the downstroke, and all the kings horses, and all the kings men, can't "get back on top of it" fast enough to hit it straight.

The ball can go "right-to-right" or if the face closes, left.

To pose it in the true "troubleshooter" tradition of a Rick Smith, from a near top of the back swing position, try to hit your right heel with the back side of the clubhead while you thrust your mid-section out toward the ball like Madonna on crack.

The solution: The Manzella-Special, towel plane board.
