Did Toms give someone the bird

Apparently on hole #p I think it was, DT missed a putt and a fan start cheering saying something like "Go Freddie" cheering for Couples. Apparently DT felt the fan was cheering his missed putt and took offense. I dont know 100% because I wasnt there to witness it. But that is the general consensus of everything I have read about it. The tour has said they will not fine DT over the incident because it isnt something that follows along with his character etc. Apparently he has never shown any tendancy to exhibit that sort of behaviour. I think he just lost his cool at that moment and did something he probably regrets doing. Obviously Brian knows him well and speaks highly of him. The company I work for donated some HVAC equipment for his charity on a project in Shreveport I believe. Everyone I know that had any dealings with DT talked about how nice and humble a person he was.
I heard (read) that after the fan made his comment that Toms took his middle finger and very slowly acted like he was scratching the outside of his nose. It was apparent that he was directing it toward the fan. It wasn't as though he turned around and flipped off the guy like some of us do in heavy traffic.etc. Not me of course! Dr Dave

Ahahaha that's a classic...takes me back to grade school. Love it.
Just realized I had taped the final round. Hole #9---as he is getting ready to tap in his 3rd put someone from across the water yells "C'mon Freddie". Toms stops for a second and then taps in the putt. As he picks the ball out of the hole he stands up , and while clearly looking in the direction of the fan, runs his middle finger along the right side of his nose, as if scratching it. Showed it to my born-again Christian wife and even SHE chuckled. i thought it was pretty funny myself. Agree with birdie_man, a CLASSIC grade school move, and deepens my respect for the guy. Dr Dave
