Does flat left wrist requires a neutral grip?

top of the swing. I'm not sure how to explain this, but for me it seems like its' more synchronize with my body when I cup my wrist and it sets on the plane on it's own.

Are you saying that you have a neutral grip, and that you swing better when you cup it at the top?

I guess I'm not sure what you mean when you say that cupping your wrist at the top helps the face set on the plane. Does the cup allow you to add more downswing twistaway?

I thought you were talking impact.

Still doesn't require a neutral grip to be flat at the top.

I had a very strong grip for years with a FLW at the top of the swing.

Well it more natural, as oppose of a flat wrist. I feel very tense on the top with a flat wrist.

Well it depends on who you talk to. Mr Kelley TGM says that FLW Is you number 1 imperitive, it's an alignment so ideally keep it flat, however a bend at the top is really a double wrist cock (fred couples). I think the question with the grip is that it sometimes has an effect on what people feel is acceptable at the top. A strong grip is gona produce a so called closed clubface at the top if the wrist is flat. If you feel better at the top with slightly cupped wrist & you hit it good then I would say no problem, if you fighting a slice however, I would say maybe try & flatten it out reguardless of what the clubface looks like
Hope this is of some help?

Yeah, it definitely did. I guess my natural way of playing golf is with a slightly cupped wrist. It's always been that way. It is a lil bit unnatural to me to have a flat wrist. I do feel like the impact are much more pure when I have a flat wrist. Just wam bam

A flat wrist at the top is in no way a must for good golf. A cup is only a problem if that is the root of any issues you're having. A flat wrist at the top feels horrible to me and i hit it much shorter and more crooked with it.

i do feel the same, it's unnatural for me and it stresses my left wrist a lot, which causes bunch of other problems...

I find that a cupped left wrist at the top tends to start the club down on too steep a plane, and a bowed left wrist at the top starts the club down under plane. So flat at the top is best for downswing plane, but I agree it's not for everybody. Is anything for for everybody?

Kevin, I ask brian if you could play good golf without a flat left wrist and he said no. Now I`m confused.

He had to mean at impact. Just look at all the players who arent flat at the top. Brian knows virtually every variation and would never say you cant play cupped at the top or even right after impact.

Flat Left Wrist.

Is a "Flat Left Wrist" an "Imperative" of a good golf swing?

No.

But, at impact, if the shaft is leaning backward, you are in big trouble.

In my opinion, IT DEPENDS...can you go from Cupped to Flat in the quarter second it takes to make the downswing? Couples can.
IT DEPENDS..what does your golf ball do? When you came to see me, your flight was too HIGH...still cupped at Impact..

Just because something's always been that way doesn't mean it has to stay that way forever. UPGRADE.

Should Everyone be Flat at the Top if they are a Flipper??

Should Everyone be Flat at the Top if they are a Flipper??

No.

They should learn it backwards if they can't learn it forward.

Swivel first.

And if that doesn't work, better MASH can be accomplished other ways.
