Does Swinging More Left Make it Easier....

To lag the sweetspot? It feels like so to me. I have been working hard on swinging my hands way much more left and have noticed that my contact has improved drastically (even though I am hitting a lot of pulls) and many hits on the center to toe of the club instead of center to heel (for me).

Think about what's rotating around into impact and the order of what's rotating--heel, sweetspot, then toe. If you lag the heel, you could get heel shots, sure. If you lag the sweetspot, you could also get heel shots.

I would say no. Especially because lagging the sweetspot results in more heeled shots.

The sweetspot rotates around the hosel, so you actually want to lag the "sweetspot". If you lag the hosel, that will lead to shanks. When the hosel is lagged, it get in the way of the sweetspot, leading to a shank.

Ed is right. You do not want to lag the hosel. You want to lag the sweetspot.

This is usually the error people run into when trying to incorporate the info in "Flipper". When you learn to feel PP3 a lot of stuff makes sense.

With all respect to everyone who replied, I KNOW I do not want to be lagging the hosel, I just needed to know if my swinging more left after impact (better plane) aids in the lagging of the sweetspot. As much as I have tried up the wall, down the wall, most of the time I am still way underplane. When I saw D Toms at PGA last week swinging his hands way left, a light seemed to go on for me and I have been working on it since. Thanks for the replies!

Yes, yes, yes!!!

Absolutely.

Anything that works under, can get UNDER the sweetspot and BEHIND the hosel.

Right Shoulder, Left Arm, Right Arm, Hips...etc

The more things that stay ON TOP (ie, behind the sweetspot), the better.

What helped clear this up for me was the clubface turning off the plane 45 degrees.Brian has a nice video on this in the archieves.
