Does this work for anyone?

I have found a swing thought that helps me 'reset' when the swing goes sour. I don't make any conscious changes other than the feelingthat I am keeping my back turned to the target an additional fraction of time during the backswing.

Since all I do is concentrate on this feeling, I'm not really sure what it affects, and why my swing improves as a result. All I know is to-date, its fool-proof.

Any similar fixes or explainations as to why this works are welcome. Otherwise, maybe this little feel of mine might be of help to someone out there.

Backswing?
If you are keeping your back to the target longer on the downswing, you are keeping your right shoulder on plane and not coming over the top with an big early shoulder turn before the weight shift and/or hip turn.

I don't know if it is the backswing you are talking about.

Yes, I am talking about the backswing. When I complete it, I just pause long enough for me to feel that my back is facing the target. After that I just hit the hell out of the ball and it seems like everything just comes together.

The only problem is that it is a feel thing that is not always there for me.

It makes sense what 6bee says about getting my shoulder(rt) on plane for that is an area that I struggle mightily. I thought that another reason might just be clearing my head of all but one swing thought.

Its funny, but I almost don't want to trust this feel even though it works because its so simple. Golf can't be simple can it?

A full shoulder turn is very good insurance against an over the top move and can 'make up' for a lot of mistakes in the backswing/plane. One reason that many people would do well to let that left heel come off the ground in order to get a full turn. This also helps create the 'full body' whip, because to keep in balance the left foot and left knee must start the downswing and the chain reaction goes to impact from that 'counter fall' to 'squat' position is basically automatic.

Hitters don't turn anywhere near as much, nor need to, like a swinger. They 'stay closer to impact position' throughout the motion.

I'd say what you're doing right now is a pretty good swing thought...pretty much the opposite of coming over the top.

I try to get a full shoulder turn and keep my back to the target more on the downswing. It sometimes feels like my arms pull my whole body around. Great contact and compression when I get it right. The shot usually goes further as well.
