Downswing Issues

Time for another post regarding what I believe to be a defficiency in my swing.

In my downswing I notice that my left heel comes up off the ground (weight on my toes).

Most good players I watch don't do it.

My misses tend to be thin and right.

Can anybody explain why I want to jump onto my left toes on the downswing?

I think you'll find many good players have their weight on their toes around the impact zone...
I think it is pretty common....
The difference is whether the weight is constantly on your (left) toe or whether you are falling forward, which is different...

Just last week, I was playing with a new Adidas shoe which has a higher heel than my normal Footjoy pair. I can't believe it as I keep shanking all my shots from driver to iron.

Changed back to my usual FJ and the shanks mysteriously disappear. What I realised was that the higher heel on the Adidas pair kept my weight on the toes in the downswing which didn't fit my swing.

Proper shoes does matter! Not saying that this is the cause for you but it is the first thing I will check now that I know.

cheers,

daniel
