Where do your hands go at address with the driver? Over the ball? At your belt buckle? Inner left thigh? Outer left thigh?

Currently I'm playing the ball off of my left heel at address and my hands slightly in front of the ball so that they are almost outside of my left thigh. If that's not correct could this be why I'm pulling the driver?

I also set up with my hands a little ahead of the driver at address.

When doing this one has to be careful not to close the face of the driver

i've always thought of having my hands above the clubhead at address with a driver, or more towards midbody, so approx opposite linside eft thigh

I like the hands to be wherever the player's pattern dictates they need to be to return them to the impact alignments needed for the particular shot that player is trying to produce!!!!

True, however i like to start with mid-body hands and then change accordingly.

My hands are just a tad ahead of mid-body with a driver. This stops the shaft from leaning backwards too much (but still leans back).

Much better answer than me and this is what i like to start with. Because Leo is right, true mid-body is a bit back with a driver BUT it works for some.

I cannot do midbody hands, which sucks because I like the way it looks. Nothing sets right when I do it. And it's painful!! I had an older player show it to me a couple of years ago. I hurt my wrist.

I like hands slightly ahead which gives me a one plane inside backswing; doing this flattens out my swing and gives me a better chance of downswinging inside out.
I also find hands ahead promotes hitting with the back of my left hand.

Underplane

Midbody hands or just a tad forward otherwise I get too flat on the backswing, and can't get to the TSP.

Went to see my swing doctor today. My hands were outside my left thigh before, when I left my hands were between my belly button and inside thigh. With that little correction and turning my hips all the way through the swing I've got a functional drive once again.

Thanks guys, it looks like I've now got the same general hand position as you all.

Wolfman, I have a stronger grip and I have found that when I set up with the ball forward and the handle of the club at my belt buck my hands sometimes get lower at address, which will always make my swing flat. Maybe check your hand position after you have them at "mid-body" to see that they are at the height you want them.

No offense...but to Leo or chdwck, but i have given lessons to Wolfman and he shouldn't listen to either of you lol.

His mid-body hand setup works well for him.

Well

That flat backswing is/was just one of my many problems. Its more complicated than taking my hands/club up the wall.

Bad info from several other TGM instructors corrected by Brian THRU Jim.
