Driver...my last obstacle. Please help.

Hello everyone. I've been studying and using Manzella's NSA for about 2-3 months, and am happy to say that a lot of my slices and shanks with my irons have disappeared. Majority of my problems during my last round has been pulls and slight hooks. I'm usually able to fix this problem as I find myself twisting away extra hard when bad thoughts of shanks enter my mind. I just have to trust my swing more, I guess.

The problem is, that I haven't been able to fix my driver. At one point, my driver was extremely solid--I'm not close to being a long hitter (probably due to a messed up swing), but about a year ago, I'd be splitting fairways consistently. Then, something happened. I'm not even sure what it was, but I lost it all. At it's worst (about 4-5 months ago), I was slicing EVERYTHING in sight, and hitting almost every drive on the heel. And I mean EXTREME heel. Those driver problems started to creep it's way into my irons, and I became the worst 13 handicap you've ever seen.

Enter NSA. As mentioned above, my irons have been better, and I understand so much more about my swing now than I did 6 months ago. But the driver problems remain. I tried to internalize the Manzella Youtube episode about adjustments for the driver. I tried swinging with my newly-acquired NSA tips....but nothing.

For the most part, the majority of my drives are still weak slices, and I'm still hitting the ball on the heel. I set up with the ball a little farther back than the left armpit, and I've been toying around with standing a little farther from the ball. I know I'm not supposed to be reaching out to hit the ball, but just letting my arms drop didn't seem to be working so......

I don't know what else to try...Too many on-course adjustments, for sure, but man....it sure is difficult to score when I'm forced to punch out every second shot. I haven't asked this question yet, thinking that I'd just harvest some tips from this board, but it's getting frustrating as heck.

Obviously, a video of my swing will help you see my flaws. But maybe some of you guys could give me some tips to try before my next round? Drills to do at home since I don't have the luxury of range time? I figure I'd give it one more shot, and if I absolutely have to, I'll post a video of my swing.

Thank you,
RB

I'm not sure if this is applicable, but my driver problems ended when I learned how to "hold the twist, and lag the sweetspot" .. or turn the sweetspot off of the plane and stop lagging the hosel.

Heck no, it definitely sounds applicable to me.

Lagging the sweetspot and hooking that wet finger thing was one of the main things that helped me get my iron game back on track.

I appreciate the reply and will definitely try to apply the same 10 steps from NSA to my driver. I'm a headcase though....everytime I see that 46-inch shaft (44.5 after choking down), my mind goes blank and I swing like an idiot.

Thanks again, Tank.

Try the pure ball striker. I was slightly skeptic at first but I like it a lot. Not sure if the "Manzella deal" is still going on.
