driver(teeing height) problem

here's my dilemna with my driver:
if i tee it a bit low or even at the suggested tee height, i apparently come down a bit steeper on it and it gives me a higher spinning shot with little rollout.
now when i tee it with an exagerated tee height of around 3.5 to 4 inches, i get a great trajectory, long and high but flat and great shot pattern.
i guess the simpe answer is to keep it teed high, but what am i doing wrong, or what should i be doing to get that same shot from the more traditional teeing method?
thanks

Your experience is not unusual.

Coming down on it a bit steeper creates a negative angle of attack. The launch angle is lower with more spin. It will land steeper, therefore, rollout will be minimal.

The higher tee height promotes a more positive angle of attack. Impact tape will reveal where you're hitting it (center or upper center face). Spin imparted on the ball is significantly less. You're likely are achieving near optimal flight launch conditions.

Any chance you can get on a launch monitor with a few swings of each tee set up?

The answer to your question of:
What am i doing wrong or what should i be doing to get that same shot from the more traditional teeing method?

As Brian said to me earlier:
  • We believe in technology and science around here.
  • We are not SCARED of change.

It may not be possible to achieve the same outcome with the traditional teeing method due to the changes in launch conditions and the driver's center of gravity at impact. The bigger question for you is which set up can you be more consistent with? What kind of outcome do you want (max carry, max total distance)? Either way, an optimal launch outcome can be achieved.

Todd
