I'd like to hear some analysis of this swing by some of the swing guru's on this site.

Why is it effective and what are the pro's and cons of his motion.

Check out around 2:02 of the clip

Of all the people ive played with or have seen play at least 18 holes or more up close live, the order of ballstriking would be this.

1st Duval - unreal compression. tightest fade ever
2nd Nick Price for sound and pure accuracy
3rd Chad Campbell for no friggin curve at all
4th Tiger - sooooo many shots its unreal
5th John Huston - you'd be surprised
6th Rocco Mediate - played 36 at Sawgrass with him and he missed one shot
7th Fred Couples - can do anything you want with a ball
8th Hal Sutton - heavy sound, no curve
9th Tom Watson - very long and tight
10th Nick Faldo - worked it every which way imaginable

I had the pleasure of following watson around at a champions event a few years ago... that was my first time really watching a pro, and then understanding why I will never ever reach that level... haha

To play with that shut of a face, I would think you have to have a great pivot. Always be turning, or the club would pass his body and it's four left..

You never heard Seve hit a balata?......you missed a real treat....

I've seen it up close, and it is fun to watch/hear--love the tempo. Great wedge player.

Not seeing any more than standard rotation though. Look at the position of his right foot coming into impact and through. I think his head rotation is what creates this illusion. Also, the face position is much more conventional on the way down and not as "closed".

Agree we need more Seves in the game--definitely a treat.

Copy Duval's Tempo

I followed him around at the open. The overall pace of his swing was beautiful. Just a total unhurried motion and click...ball got small in a hurry.
I noticed that about all the pros, including Phil, just great motion and never trying to add any power. Except for Zach Johnson and Tiger, they seemed like they were trying to add something to their downswings.
