No. But the handle needs to be further ahead at impact and/or probably more axis tilt if you do it with a stronger grip.
 
Surely you would hook even more with those two factors?

Sure, the potential is definitely there. But as someone who has played with a very strong grip, and with the thought of supinating early, it can be done I can attest to the fact that it is possible.

I have taught turning the face off if the plane for over 25 years.

Weaker grips REQUIRE it. Stronger grips need more pitch elbow and right side bend using my old turn vs tilt rule.

Plenty of great players do less until the point in The downswing where they have to.
 
And if it does require less gamma, what is the best way to reduce gamma? The obvious one is to weaken your grip, no?
