hello to all and happy holidays

i have a serious problem with my right elbow......and i really need help

i have tried everything...........i have spoken by phone with brian....and

of course he helped....but as i setup to the ball.....and start back...(heres the problem)......the right elbow goes directly behind be....not back away from ball....like it should.......but if i were back to the wall...and started back....my elbow would hit the wall...

it is involuntary, i sure dont want to do it..........but because of back problems around the rotator cuff.......i have no strength there......so its like a loose elbow......nothing stopping it hitting the wall........as it does my hand (right) faces down.....and im clueless............because of the elbow ,folding the ...or curling the elbow is not possible

i hope i didnt confuse the ? as much as i am helpless

please help

Howard,

If you can raise your right hand and "swear allegiance" from an address position then you can make a workable back swing.

Are you wanting to keep your right elbow pinned to your side? As your right arm goes back, the elbow has to go in (back from target line).....unless your double-jointed ! in and up

NO

NOT DOUBLE JOINTED....

PICTURE THIS

STAND SAY 4 FEET IN FRONT OF A WALL

FACING OUT..........AS I START BACK.......MY RIGHT ELBOW.....GOES SMACK INTO THE WALL BEHIND ME

1 LAST THING............IF I SET UP...FACING 12 ON A CLOCK

FIRST MOVE BACK....MY RIGHT ELBOW.....GOES TO 5-530

Have you tried Brian's "Twistaway"? I think it would help with the flying right elbow problem (it's detailed on the "NSA 2.0" Video.

As a word of advise ... disengage your CAPS key. A lot of folks find the all caps' very annoying.

Good luck

We have one member that will X-Plode on you for your CAPS useAGE...

I won't though.

...

ANYway...

I don't really feel right giving you advice when you are dealing with Brian but I will just say had a very flat backswing b4 and up to this point have had success with a steeper shoulder turn.

(and/or see his video "Never Hook Again")

with all respect jim........i have no idea.....i cant even do a backswing............not being facetious here...just honest..

when i take it back, the elbow is up.......the right palm is down

so so frustrating

thanks for any help

h,
Without a club, can you make your right hand go to any sort of proper backswing position? This doesn't even have to be a backswing motion, can you put your right hand any where close to a backswing position?

Hey h,
Good to meet another friend. MTSU is in the 'boro, but I did graduate from Tech (Cookeville). Sorry for all of the questions about your swing, I was just trying to figure out how limited you might be by your back and/or rotator cuff limitations. From your posts I feel that you are really frustrated with this right now. I would just say that you need to find a way to get you to your proper backswing position. I have no advice on a way to do it, just encouragement. I highly recommend going to see Brian. I have made the trip to Louisville and it is worth every penny of it and then some. I know that habits are hard to break, I've had a couple that had beaten me down until I quit the game for periods. Find a way, do a video lesson with Brian, do slow backswings, do backswings against a wall...whatever it takes. Never give up! Lots of good people here who are willing to help, but Brian is the authority.

Jim S.

Merry Christmas

H-Jack,

Only because I like your name and it's Christmas....backswing; from your normal address position simply pick up and answer the phone with your right hand as you swing the club back while not breaking your left wrist and breaking your right hand back toward you right forearm....from the top; as you start down each thumb should be underneath and supporting the shaft from their aft sides, while starting down feel as though each thumb then seeks the opposite side of shaft while keeping your right elbow as directly below the shaft as is comfortable.

Merry Christmas!

hip turn yes

the problem for me with the spine problem

is i face left.....so therefore when i put my right hand on its over the top of chest and to the left
so on the way back....it finds its comfort zone.....which is BANG straight behind me hitting the wall

interesting vid about the hammer guy

It sounds to me as though you're moving your upper arm backward (as though you were going to hit someone standing behind you with your elbow) instead of "fanning" your forearm (pivoting the forearm around the elbow joint).

Can you curl a dumbbell to your shoulder or drink a glass of watter without your upper arm moving back behind you? If so, you should be able to do a backswing.
