Take a look, Dustin Johnson who is #1 in driving distance this year:

Talk about F.A.T.S

Great clip, and very good self analysis by Johnson. He creates a very dynamic action through impact and unreal force across the shaft with that move.

His magic dynamic achieved by bending the plane line twice, first left then right and stressing the shaft in the same general direction both times.

At the top his extremely bowed left wrist bends the plane line way left, down at the bottom his pitch right elbow jams his right forearm in front of his right hip and he bends the plane line back out to the right...left then right equals somewhere near middle. All this is done torquing the heck out of the shaft. WOW!

Fair enough

Dr. Zick says you can't "bend" a plane line.

Very well. Twice asserting massive force across the shaft in the downswing. The first time, performed by the bowed left wrist; the second time performed by the right forearm "fit in" move as he approaches impact.

His bowed left wrist at the top stresses the shaft in such a way that his swing path would be way left. As he approaches impact (at or just prior to release) he counters this as he keeps his chest high and fits his pitch right elbow in front of his right hip. This very dynamic move contributes huge torque across the shaft such that he pushes the club head path rightward. Without that recovery the path would be dead left. With it he pounds it. Straight!
