Facing your fears

Well, I can honestly say I faced my biggest fear today and it paid off. I swung from under... That is, at the inside aft quadrant of the ball. I swung down, forward and out, with lag. We talk about it all the time. But its really not intuitive. I've always hit a little bit of a draw, but I think it was previously manufactured with a closed clubface- which really made it a minor hook. Now I hit a draw with slightly open clubface. I can do it with water to my right.

Big step for me..........

At what degree to the right do you 'feel' that you are swinging out relative to the target line?

I am now trying to swing 'from under' as much as possible. For some reason, I don't think I can do it too much. I base this on the fact that I fight an over-the-top move and when I come 'from under' it almost always a pure shot. Obviously anything can be overdone and I guess that I would be hitting pushes if I did it too much, but I'm not. So, in summation, I swing as much as possible 'from under.'

What pitfalls do you foresee?

By saying 'from under' I am assuming you are describing the feel of getting the right shoulder down on plane. Unless you are as flexible as Mathew, you aren't likely to get 'too' under, you'll hurt your back first. If you keep your spine angle, you are in good shape - but if you move your swing center, you'll have some depth control problems and/or distance control problems depending on how 'down' you are hitting.

It sounds like you are still well within the proper 'under'. Like an inside out cut shot ;)
