Feeding the shaft to the right index finger

Tell me if I'm on to something. We hear so much about the #3pp and the "feeling of the load" but all too often we use the right hand in the wrong way to achieve that feeling and over accelerate. What if, instead, we think about the right index finger being forced to eat, forced to eat pressure? If you pivot your tail off and use a little "force about the shaft" applied w/ the left hand, your right index finger is forced to feel that pressure. You are doing everything you can to push that club back into the right index finger, not the other way around.

In my opinion....

I don't like it.

PP#3 cannot be a constant pressure, it must vary throughout the golfswing.

At the top of the swing, it supports the weight of the club as a fulcrum ... and from there the support diminishes until you reach about shaft vertical in the downswing.

From shaft vertical, PP#3 becomes a push on the club handle and that push increases until just before final Release and Impact.

Homer never defined the magnitude or direction of PP#3 ... it was just something he 'felt'.

sorry Bonesy

I don't know who did it.. but I think someone took Brian's identity.

That person might have used it to answer your question.

I know that because the owner of this site is more knowledgeable then to say " i don't like it"

could not in any way been Brian...IF...IF..IF..he didn't like it he would have given you a reason

and also given you an alternative to help you along. I give the writer credit for saying his opinion....he stated

" in my opinion, i don't like it".............but don't worry Brian will get his identity back and your question

will be properly answered..........

You are correct about the "right forefinger hook" being better off sensing pressure instead of creating it.

It is a very dicey place to put your attention, if you take it to an extreme.

It turns out that the LOAD of this area, the PRESSURE on this area, and the DIRECTION of this area, is a constantly changing thing.

Whatever works for you is ok with me, though.

Brian -- Don't let HowardK pressure you! We're under your "roof".

Thanks for the thoughts all. The more I think about it, the feeling is very associated w/ the twistaway.

I have ups and downs. When I'm not thinking about consciously controlling the club face, I hit the ball poorly. When I know what the clubface is doing, I hit it well. The whole "just pivot and everything will take care of itself" thing that golfers everywhere espouse to do just doesn't work for me.

mr. bonesy............when a person feels a friendship to another person that person

not only shares positives but also corrects what needs to be corrected...(in his opinion)

i know how good Brian is...and how dedicated...he is

pressure?? NO....never...but will i call him out when necessary.....

let me share a quote with you from a dvd brian did..if a spoon works like a spoon, and a knife works like a knife..then....................

make the club work like a club ..the shaft as a shaft.........the head like a head...... I WANT bRIAN TO WORK LIKE bRIAN...........AND ANSWER QUESTIONS AS ASKED.....

i WANT Brian to be the best....i want him in top 50, top 20, top 10 etc

but if i really want those things for him as a friend..........then when necessary....i need

to say certain things...please remember this.................I WOULD NEVER HURT BRIAN

look up bonesy we are standing under the same ROOF

I hear you now.

Let the club's resistance to the change in direction (pivot) be the only pressure on the right index finger?

I actually feel that with my shorter clubs. With my longer clubs, I feel some "toss."

Thank you, BrianM ... you responded to Bonesy, but you also somewhat confirmed my posting above.
