Feeling of Exaggerated Axis Tilt

Recently I was thumbing through Joe Dante's *Four Magic Moves" and came upon an illustration of axis tilt where he suggests imagining a "T" on your back. According to Dante, you should lead the downswing by moving the bottom of the T (your hips) to the left. I decided to hit a few balls with this image in mind; and when I did it right, I hit them very, very well. What really interested me was that I was able more easily to hit with a flat left wrist when I tilted the "T" properly. I have a few questions about axis tilt: (1) Is proper axis tilt a requirement for hitting a ball with a flat left wrist, particularly on the full swing? (2) I am 6'3" tall and when I led my downswing with my hip as Dante's illustration suggests, I felt like I was bent into a sideways "V", sort of like a "<". Will my height exaggerate the feeling of axis tilt? (3) Am I thinking incorrectly about axis tilt?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Axis tilt and it's correlation with lag is something I've been looking into for the past few months. I've been watching a lot of video and reading as much as I can. I don't know about a flat left wrist, but there certainly seems to be more lag. Usually when you have lag, you have a flat left wrist since there is no casting or flipping.

I'm not sure what you mean with the < part.

CTS

Chronic Throwaway Syndrome in my case was a tiny little bit relieved by not running out of trail arm in the DS.

By keeping the trail arm bent more and longer and more inside (puppy through the hoop) I also got the trail shoulder down more towards the ball, less roundhousing and more axis tilt.

For me this is how axis tilt is somehow connected to less-flipping.

No, you can still hit the ball with a flat left wrist with no axis tilt, however your divots will be very deep.

Yes that is the feeling, where you feel very stretched. Yes the taller you are the more the right shoulder has to travel downplane and the more axis tilt you will need to do that.

(3) Am I thinking incorrectly about axis tilt?

So far, yes. Good job.

Is axis tilt supposed to hurt the back? I would think not lol. Every time I try to add more through conscience effort, it feels like I am contorting my back somehow. I am not the most flexible guy in the world but am I overcooking this move? Should I concentrate on hip slide or "throwing the drunk off" to achieve this vital position?

Jim, I would like you to expand on this a bit more if you may. Consider two golfers the same height. Would the one with shorter arms and legs (longer torso) require more or less tilt?
