Ad.1. Improper pelvis area motion in general - lack of targetwise linear movement of the rear hip joint before/at transition.
ad.2. Yes, it should - if it isn't - it just sways and not properly rotates on a slanted 3-D path up and back.

This is what cured my early extension finally!
Yep, I believe you. The funniest part is that the desired effect can be obtained practically automatically (as an event in an automatical sequence of events) if one just follows basic physics and basic anatomy knowledge. Always wondered why there are so many early extenders/goat humpers, even in the circles of great players, but finally solved this mystery not so long ago - because golf instruction generally sucked and still SUCKS and cannot deliver simple understandable satisfactory answer(s) to an average weekend hacker. The future belongs to sciences, true sciences. Golf will be much easier for masses soon and it will be the end for BS golf instruction as well once & for all. Have a gr8 weekend.
Cheers
Dariusz J. from Poland, is that you? You are missed over on golfwrx.
Yea I tried to explain it on another post. But if I think of myself as a tornado on the backswing, I want to take that entire tornado and move it towards the target 6-8". If I do this without any sort of spine tilt or lean back, I will not make that dreadful move towards the ball. But I have found for me being a classic underplaner, I have to totally relax my arms, hands, and shoulders on the downswing (think spaghetti arms), to sequence them up with my body. The more tension i have in my arms and hands the more I tilt my spine.

"candy cane hip action--The cog movement of all good golfers" Brian Manzella and Billy Mckinney, Maribella lesson tee.
I heard this before, but didn't quite understand until the recent lesson with Brian
I was there to witness this.
And they also referred to it as backing into the swing if "candy cane hip action" does not ring a bell as it did not for me.
So, Brian and Billy McKenny demonstrated it with a Billy's TRAINING AID belt, having a laser light where the buckle would be.
From there, with the laser activated, they made a normal backswing and then fell to the left side (just enough to move the weight onto or toward the left /front post) while still in the "top of the backswing" position. And the laser light made the shape of a candy cane on the ground.
As per usual, the picture (seeing it on the ground) was better than a thousand words.
