Firing the right side

I need some help working on firing my right side through the ball. I seem to have a recurring habit of just returning my hips to square or just past at impact - whioch is leaving my right hand open and the club face right.

Im trying hard to work on firing my whole right side so the hips turn about 45 degrees open whilst staying in balance and not swaying/sliding forward past the ball. My thought is trying to get my right hip and right hand to impact together

I find when I get this right and hold on to the bend in the right wrist/cup in the left I really feel the lag (dragging the heavy mop head) and hit the ball lovely, even though my brain (computer) thinks im going to hook it off the planet, hence the trust issues

anyone give me any good thoughts, drills that can help? I know what I want to do, I just seem to make my body do it consistently enough

Well....

I don't know about firing your right side but, try this to learn to utilize your right side correctly:

Using the front edge of a divot as the "thing you want to hit," set up with the leading edge of the club in the middle of the divot about 2 inches from the front edge of the divot.

Take your left hand off of the grip (about an 8-iron will do), so you are holding it right arm only.

Make a three-quarter distance/three-quarter speed swing and hit the front edge of the divot.

Do it about a dozen or so times evertime you hit balls and whenyou "go back to normal," pretend you are still making the right arm only swing.
