I began working with Brian in April with hopes that he could "fix me right up" for the tourney season and get me on my way. Specifically, I targeted the Open qualifier as a goal since it was played in my hometown.

My lessons were great but my expectations were unrealistic. I had a pattern that was severely to the right of the Matrix with the obvious ballflight issues. Even though i knew EXACTLY what he wanted me to do, my "old pattern blow up" period lasted longer than my patience would allow. I continued to see Brian but got inreasingly frustrated as I was trying to play through the changes. After a frustrating summer, I had only a few events left. I decided to break down the lessons again and it all just clicked. I've been 21 under with 29 birdies in my last 4 competitve rounds. A little late for this year but can't wait for April.

Moral of the story. Try to understand, do what he tells you, be patient, and you will be rewarded. He's that good.

My blow up period is usually about a week after I see Brian, I'll pure it for a couple of weeks and then fall apart...That is where the lesson begins, trying to piece it back together after "the newness" wears off.

The only reason my blow up period lasted longer was my inflated opinion of my skills. I wanted a radical change to happen fast, when the reality is that there is an order that things take form. As a teacher, I should know that.
