Fix my alignment

Brian I have a tendency to aim to far to the right of my target. I am right handed and try to play a small draw. My perception at address is that I am aimed about 5 yards right of the flag. However when I lay clubs on the ground to check, I find in reality that I aimed 20-25 yards right. When I try to hit shots with these clubs in place, its feels like I aimed twenty yards left, which produces horrible results. I am a fairly good player, (5 hdcap), but some days my misses are pushes and the ocassional hook. By the end of the round I'm a basket case because I don't know whether to aim right or left. How would you correct someone who's tendency is to aim way too far right?

You need to learn to 'SEE' a 90degree angle (straight line).

You are 'aiming' to the right, but the real culprit is LOOKING too far left.

Go to a Footabll field and stand at the intersection of the goal-line and the sideline.

Imagine you are hitting the PYLON to the other goal line.

Look at the TRUE 90 degree angle.

Nice reply Brian.:)

I have often practiced on an athletic field and it is amazing how square alignment feels if you have been aimimg to the right.

Setting up as you recommend and tracking down the sideline to the far goal post to identify square alignment is quite revealing.

Another place to do this is in a parking lot using the lines drawn on the surface or any surface with parallel lines.
