Has the flat left wrist become less important over the last few years? I know forward lean has backed off a bit (I think) but didn't know if that effected the left wrist. Thanks
I hope not. That left wrist needs to be flat to strike the ball at a high level. Flip and you'll never quite get there.
And it's not like having a lot of shaft lean means you cannot be a phenomenal ball striker, you just need to adjust for it. Lot easier to adjust for forward shaft lean than to adjust for a flip.
I think the big thing is that there's no longer a real need to have massive amounts of shaft lean. Moe Norman had about as minimal amount of shaft lean as one can get, but still had a ton of lag and a flat as a board left wrist at impact. I get the feeling that there are probably some golfers out there who have a similar *impact* position as Moe and probably foolishly wish to have all this shaft lean, when not only is not necessary, but possibly a detriment. But, FLW at impact is still the #1 imperative in my opinion.
