Flipper Giveth...Building Blocks Taketh (with Brian Manzella Video Answer)

I decided to buy flipper and try to improve my swing, I worked at hitting the ball with my pivot and after a couple of hours was striping the ball. I was very impressed with the video so I decided to buy building blocks. I worked on the chip shot and pitch shot in the style Brian uses in the video for a day in the house. I went outside today and to hit some full shots and I couldn’t hit the ball at all. I couldn’t close the club face for nothing; I would try and consciously turn it over and would hit wedge shots about 10 ft high. I am not sure what I have done. I think it has to do with the rolling the hands on plane and trying to throw out with out losing brw and straightening the right arm. To top it off I have a tournament this weekend, I will have a tough time breaking 80 with this swing. Something isn’t compatible with what I was doing and Building blocks, any help would be appreciated.

Get your old swing back for the tournament and worry about technique later. Get a bucket of balls and just stand on the range and smash them as hard and far as you can. The hit impuse should override your recent learning.

Or you could go to Hooters and get drunk. That would work too.

The hit impulse...

Most of flipper video is about removing a right handed person's "hit impulse" see also McTeigue's book...

Wallop it with your pivot is what flipper is about... th earms are THROWN OUT... it is passive... but use the knowledge of alignments in Building blocks to guide the throw... but the hands ARE MOVED by the pivot...swinging that is....

Trying to do a "chip-pitch" (low hard pitch with sustained "impact hands") I assume?

Low balls....

Perhaps you need to add tilt......use the pivot.......instead of TRYING to hold the angle....?

Did you hit any shanks??

....

Anyway....(I'm) just throwing it out there. (pardon the throwout action pun....?....uhhhh.....)

Honestly have not seen BBlocks.

Brian or Jim or someone will know better I'm sure.
