Flipper Video Question

Could someone help me understand why Brian instructs to keep the right foot down using the held off finish, full float load, punch shot drill. I don't question the validity, I just don't understand. Also, does this drill get you moving toward more of a 4 barrel swing?

Thanks,

If done properly, your right foot should stay on the ground not because you are actively trying to (by being tense with your right foot, etc.), but because the club hasn't gone far enough into the finish to pull your right heel off the ground.

We are even.

I don't understand the question.

Esp. the "held off finish" comment.

Please ask again.

He's talking about the part when you finish with the club below your hands, i.e. no chicken wing.

further clarification

Thanks to all for the replys.

I'm speaking of the abbreviated finish where you hold the arm position and the right foot is held down. It about at the 32 minute mark of the video.

By the way, I hit the ball better with that drill than a full finish swing.

In my 25 years of playing golf, I have yet to see better piece of instruction than that flipper video.

Oh.....the "Ben Doyle-style" PUNCH shot!!

The reason it works is because you have to PREPARE to finish with the club below your hands WAY AHEAD OF TIME.

So you FLIP less.

BOOM!
