Follow-Though question

I mean follow through.....

I have noticed in watching pro swings and watching never slice again, that post impact should be a continuation of forearm roll. I don't think I am doing this at the moment (although I am hitting it well). I feel like I have a good impact position but my right wrist breaks down soon after.

1. Should this full roll be a product of a good pivot, or should I be conscience of the roll (make my forearms do it)?

2. If I learn to this full roll, will it add distance?

The "Law" does it.

It's a product of the pulling action of the straight left arm and folded right arm actuated by the rotating pivot against the lagging club. Yes, keep that lead arm straight and the pivot rotating, please.

You bet, along with control.

BTS,

So I guess question 2 is irrelevant.......If I am pivoting correctly, and producing lag, the roll will happen as it should.

pull or push

No, you don't need to pivot it correctly, but pull (for swinging) or push (for hitting) it correctly.

So, where do you draw the line? It seems any conscious thought to push/pull would create problems. Please explain further? Thanks.

The follow through is simply a mirror of the backswing.
If you think about it, it has to be, otherwise the clubshaft will be off plane on the folow through.
Therefore, if you want the correct thing to happen on the follow through, then all you have to think about until it ingrains itself, is making sure the club follows the correct plane after impact, and that is NOT pointing straight down the target line, as a lot of people try to do.
Imagine the positions when your right arm is approaching parallel to the ground (your right arm will still be straight at this points).
Now ask yourself, "What would my arms/wrists/shaft be doing at this point on the backswing?"
Then you simply mirror it but on the opposite side of your body...
You will find you left elbow is bending as you right does on the backswing), and your wrists are "cocking" (the opposite way to the backswing), and th clubshaft is pointing upwards ON A SLOPING PLANE (shaft of the club points down to the target line)...
This si the place most people go wrong. They try to keep the shaft pointing towards the target, when in fact it should be following the swing arc, which is at an angle.
You can get the correct feeling by swinging with your left arm only, "half-way back, half way through," and allow that left elbow to bend and the left wrist to "cock" on the follow through..

By doing this you will automatically be doing the right thing through impact, without having to think about how much you have to roll you forearms etc etc... :)

In a "Pure Swinging motion" the clubface will line itself up toward Horizontal Hinge Action.

This "Pure Swinging motion" usually is helped—or even created—by a good pivot, ie. one that is turning "toward the center."

So in this case ONLY, the clubface can said to be a product of a good pivot.

Even then, the REAL SCIENCE is still out.

2. If I learn to this full roll, will it add distance?

Just learn to full roll, no roll and reverse roll and be done with it.

Then you'll know more than you do now.
