You can thank one of my students for this saying but it seems to work with just about everyone.

For those of you who are very laid off with low backswings, i want you to make a backswing that to you, feels like what Scott Hoch's looks like.

You will think it's too steep, but in reality you'll look about perfect. So all there is to it is to do....

What if the backswing is not low and on tsp and still laid off?

you have too much lead arm rotation, make backswings with your back facing a wall and don't let the club hit the wall. what you'll notice is that to do that, you have to not rotate the left arm so much

Hi Jim,

I've introduced to this drill as well. It's a good one.

My question is, should I be able to do it (i.e. club do not touch the wall) for all my clubs for just for the wedges? If you do touch the wall behind you for some clubs, can you let me know which club is it more likely that we will start hitting the wall.

thanks,

daniel

You should be able to miss the wall with all clubs, however, you will have to stand slightly farther away from the wall with the longer clubs otherwise you'll hit it.

Jim - I find that heels about 6" from the wall with wedge (right cheek will hit the wall at top of backswing), about 8 to 9 inches with a 5 iron - both of these will get you "up" enough.

I have been practicing some with this since my lesson with Brian and Damon in Balt. in mid June.

Ball striking is much improved - any way to get the putter on the TSP (just kidding).
