I have found that I hit the ball further with the NHA pattern than with the SD pattern. In the NHA pattern, on the downswing, you should drop your arms to the ball (or if you cannot do that, then "shake the sugar"). BM has said many times, though, that you can get only 85% of distance with a pure swinging pattern; and for that reason, you apply force across the shaft after the last point the shaft is vertical with the ground on the downswing. I assume that dropping your arms to the ball is a swinging motion, different from SD, but still a swinging motion. If not, please correct me.
Question: I am trying to figure out how to apply force across the shaft for that extra distance, while also simply dropping my arms on the ball. If I am simply dropping my arms, I am not applying any force, except through catching the drop with my pivot. Is it with the pivot that I should be applying force across the shaft?
