Freddie's shoes

The sole appears to be similar to tennis shoes made for grass court tennis, except that the nubs on the sole are bigger.

My bet is on marketing. Fred has a deal with ECCO. Picture the marketing meeting.

Fred, it would be totally killer if you could wear the "Sneakers" on the golf course. Let's inject some Carolinas Beach Loafer coolness by wearing them with no socks. Your cut is X%.

That's my intuition.

Believe it or not, Stan Stopa—he of many a favorite Manzella Stories—never ever wore socks.

He also loves non-golf shoes, and also swings smoothly.

I could see him wearing this things.

I would too, but with the new hi-tech Foot-Joy socks.

FWIW, the guys on the PGA XM radio channel were talking about them and said they did have spikes. Can't imagine a tour pro wearing shoes without some kind of spike.

I agree, especially if you are supposed to start from the ground up. Yesterday, Tiger's back foot slipped and judging from his reaction it played the major role in where the shot went (although it still landed on the green).
