full irons that don't balloon

I have been spinning irons too much into the wind. I want to hit more full irons but with less spin. For info sakes I play project x 6.5's.

SORRY: just saw this is academy only (I never get that.) Ignore below...

I know this is obvious, but the first step here is definitely: take more club and swing it easier. The biggest factor in spinning clubs into the wind is trying to hit too little club and hitting it too hard.

I play in a LOT of wind (40 to 60mph, regularly), and I used to have an instinct to only club down one or two clubs. I ended up hitting a lot of balloon balls that came up short. I now know longer flinch when pulling out a 5 iron or even a 4 iron from 140 (a distance where I'd normally hit 9 iron, or maybe an easy 8).

Choke up an inch or two, play a 3 quarter punch, but whatever you do, don't hit it full and hard.

I play in that much wind allot, I am very good at knock downs but the kind of shot I am looking for is only one or two longer, goes high lands soft and just bores through the wind, thanks for the reply. My golf course requires allot of high shots that land soft that carries hazards. thanks TIM

where do yall live that regularly has 40-60 mph of wind?

Links course on the sea in South Wales. I suppose I'm exaggerating a bit when I say 60mph 'regularly' but it blows 30 to 40 more often than it blows less than that. And I've played in 70mph on many occasions.

I play in PEI at a course that is open, 70% of the time we play in what seems like a huricane, 3rd most wind in Canada
