full swivel:curious sensations

Performing full swivel pitch shots, these are my personal feels:

1. My feel is I am making contact with a severely closed face, but also feels like I am at home plate swinging out to right field, or even over first base, to offset closed face feel. I am stillnot convinced this ain't real.

2. I feel like my clubshaft through impact, goes straight up and gets vertical. I feel a whirly burly move above my head.

3. I feel that were my butt against a wall, the clubhead through the ball never comes in towards the wall past impact. The blur of the clubhead seems to stay outside my hands past the ball.

4. I feel my right hand and arm have rolled on top of my left BEFORE and at impact.

5. I feel like I am flinging the clubhead off the shaft.

6. My right shoulder socket is very sore.

7. My left thumb and wrist are very tender.

Any feedback is appreciated.

I'm struggling with a bout of tendonitis in my left arm. The only way I can hit a ball right now is to focus on a full roll and finish swivel.

I can't say I have any of the feelings that you have described.

Are you sure you are doing it correctly. It sounds to me like you are verticle hinging vs. horizontal.

If you are getting the results you mentioned, watch "flipper" again.

My experiences are:

1. - I feel the face is correct based on ball flight. No sensation of closing severely at impact.
2. - My club shaft is forward leaning at impact and feels like it is going left and level after impact.
3. - see 2
4. - Left is on top of right. Puppy can jump through the hoop.

5. - My feeling is that the clubshaft is dropping on the ball. The roll and swivel come after..

6.- Nothing putting pressure on right shoulder. Left arm actually feels really good through this swing.
7. - fingers feel fine!

Hmmmmm, after typing all this, I'm wondering....did I just fall sucker for a set-up???? I really don't know how you can be experiencing all this and be anywhere close to correct.

Watch flipper again and just horizontal hinge and finish swivel. If this is for real, I think you are manipulating too much.

I've been working on the full swivel as well and have been experiencing some of the issues diggerdog is talking about. Specifically, I feel like I have to prepare to full roll even well before impact, and have to feel like my right hand is turning over my left at impact. I wasn't sure that this was necessarily a bad thing, though.
I also notice my left wrist becoming sore when I do this.
It feels like I really do have to manipulate the club in order to get a full swivel.

Also, can the swivel be used as a drill to prevent flipping?

Most people who need this type of swivel and roll action through the ball will have to CONSCIOUSLY do it for a while. Becaues you have to learn how to roll it. Once you practice it enough and get accustomed to doing it, it will happen automatically.
