I was taking my first lesson this morning from a pro here in Shreveport. We were going over some of the issues I have with my swing, he was talking a bit about some of his theories and such, many of which I have used in the past with success but for whatever reason did not continue to use (getting lessons from someone with completely different theories, etc.). Anyway, at one point he mentioned his old teacher in New Orleans. Then when he said something about hitting down on the driver, I knew. I looked at him and said "Your teacher from New Orleans wouldn't happen to be Brian Manzella, would it?" He had a shocked look on his face, and asked me if I knew him. I told him only from this place and FGI. He said "No wonder you know all this stuff so well." (by the way, I know the theory, but making my body do it is an entirely different matter)
Anyway, it was funny to me, since I did not think there were any TGM guys around here, and had given up on trying to find one (and had made my swing a mess over the last couple of years trying to do it differently). I will continue to see this guy a while. Some of my best golf in the past was played following some of Brian's teachings, but I never had the chance to get someone who understood where he was coming from to watch me and make sure I was doing it right.
