Generate more clubhead speed?

My short and mid irons are crisp and straight, with adequate distance, but my longer irons and driver tend to leak weakly to the right. It's puzzled me for a long time why the same swing that is so effective with shorter clubs doesn't work as well with the longer clubs...

A great pattern - especially with proper extensor action - and 10-2-B. You must learn to 'trust the twist' so you can 'thrust the twist' ;)

Actually, I read that article when it was first posted, tried it out, and had some success with it in terms of straightening out my longer clubs. But when I was first starting out I was originally a big hooker of the ball, and now I play with a much weaker grip. I'm one of those golfers who really hates to go left, and would prefer to hit everything with a slight fade if possible. With Brian's anti-slice approach, I was able to control my occassional excess leakage to the right somewhat, but psychologically, I always felt like I was going to hit a big hook that way, and sometimes did.

To reiterate, I'm not really a slicer, and my distance isn't embarrassingly short. I'm a about a 5 handicap, and I drive the ball about 240-260 range. I really just want to know how to generate more clubhead speed, because I have friends who are smaller, less athletic, and less-accomplished golfers who routinely drive it by me, and because my lack of distance places me at an obvious disadvantage on longer holes.

For me, the SMOOTHer the swing, the faster the clubhead speed and the better the control through impact.

Instead of thinking of clubhead speed, I am attempting to think more in terms of smoothing out the swing , as bts said. In TGM terms, increase the effective mass and velocity. Speed isn't a vector....no direction. Applying forces and vectors in the same direction, at the same rate will increase the clubhead speed, even though it doesn't feel like it. My driver swing feels about 60-70 percent as fast and powerful as it used to , but I've increased the distance about 10 yds.

Stabilizing the pivot, especially the pivot center, and letting body rotation transport the pivot, instead of letting the arms and hands move the pivot and outrace the body, are ways I increase the effective mass and velocity. Still no luck in sustaining the #3 PP.
