I meant to post this question after watching some of the match play tournament a week or so ago. Geoff Ogilvy really seems to get his hips way forward in the swing compared to the "the norm". I know that Brian has mentioned forward hips in some context before - I did a search on the site, and never really found any past posts that talk about forward hips.

Just wondering about the pros/cons and cause/effect of "forward hips". Seems to me that someone might want to get their hips forward to keep their balance if there was a lot of axis tilt. But that is just a guess. Just wondering if that forward hips look is good or bad or "depends".

Any opinions??

Forward Hips

Pretty common slide, bump, of hips toward left foot, then turn. It's a way to get the hips out the way without turning them too early. Ogilvy finishes in the old reverse C posture.

Believe Brian discusses David Toms making this move his Never Hook Again video.

IT is surprising he uses a 10.5 degree driver.
