Going upright, not turning back

Hey guys, I'm a long time lurker of this site and have really gained some valuable information from it. I've recently scrapped my quest for a flat swing\hogan action that fouled me up so badly last year in favor of a soft draw type pattern. I love the flat swing idea but I just can't make it work for me. I'm done with all the threads promoting a flatter swing. I had such a laid off, underplane action that I had no chance of consistency. I've posted a few videos that I'd like some feedback from. I had a question about the transition and how to get rid of the 'bounce' of the club in the start down. Kevin Shields makes this look so good. I feel like I have finally got myself in a good position at the top, how do I smooth out the transition? Mute your computer before you watch, it was windy that day and I'm an amateur movie maker.

Well, you are not flat at the top, but drop down to the elbow plane when coming into impact - so from the last parallel before impact, you are like Hogan. I like the look of your swing, and the fact that you swing left post impact.

Thank you both for having a look. Soft, unfortunately that's all I do, mess with it. I suspect I'm not unlike a lot of people here in that respect, but man, I change things a lot! I really want to make this one work and not veer off course toward the latest shiny object.

Teddy, nice catch. I do like to try to keep the hands low and going left through impact. I'm not very good at it though. Something that Kevin Shields said a while back is just now starting to click. A mixture of a soft draw backswing with a NHA downswing for underplane problems. That's what I want to focus on. I'm hitting cuts with this swing which is what I'd like to keep doing.

i don't think you have a "bounce" i just don't think you increase wrist cock much on the downswing which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's helped make David Toms win a lot of money despite a known commentator not "liking it." lol don't even get me started.

Thank you guys. It sounds like I'm on the right track. I can't wait to see what I can do with it this year. The right elbow seems to be the key for me in keeping the club from getting laid off. If I use Brian's 'wide elbows' thought in SD good things happen for me. I guess the bounce is more pronounced in iron swings, but I can live with it if the results are there. I can't take any more weekends of 73-91.

Taking it back upright is fine as long as you shallow it at least a little coming back down which you are doing. Some players hit it better with a more upright swing shape like Nicklaus and many others.Nice swing btw.

Something you may want to try to soften the transition is narrow your stance a touch by bringing your left foot back an inch or two and add a little hip turn with your takeaway. It might help you initiate your downswing with your left knee rather than your upper body.

But that is my narrow stance, lol! Thanks Kevin. I always struggle with keeping a narrow stance, maybe it's because of my height. I tried some swings in the garage last night with a narrow stance and my lower body works completely differently. Feels like more of a turn with a posting up feel of the left leg and a more cleared out hip. With a wider stance it feels like more of a slide into a cushy lower left side. I'll give it a shot next time out. Thank you!
