Golf Channel Memorial coverage?

Whether you like it or not Tiger is golf and the majority of people would rather watch Tiger hack it around then watch some no name on the leaderboard.

I'd rather have them follow one golfer an entire round (to see the bad shots and how they overcome them) than 10 minutes of putting followed by 2 wedge shots.

Yeah, when I DVR a round, I fast forward some of the putting unless it's the final round and it's someone in contention. I love golf, but I can only watch so many putts in a row, especially if I have the ability to zoom past them.

Yes.

There has got to be a better way to broadcast golf.

I think it would be greatly improved if they were able to select a few groups and follow the whole round. If they use tape delay, I wouldn't mind waiting a few hours to begin coverage in order to watch a nicely edited and presented round.

Also, what ever happened to ProTracer? That was the best thing to come to golf broadcasts in a long time. They just didn't use it correctly. It isn't based on a Track-Man-like doppler, just special cameras or filters and some computers. It would be great if they had it on every shot.

Upgrading the broadcasts would be a great way to get more people to watch what can be a very boring sport to watch on TV. Ratings!

On an LPGA telecast 3 or 4 years ago they taped Michelle Wie's early round then showed each shot in sequence as if she was paying with Anika in the afternoon, it was pretty neat. I have not seen it done since. Would re-pairing after first day by score with leaders playing afternoon TV times Friday be any better? Top players play together Thurs during TV times.

I almost posted the exact same thing. And I agree with another poster, some judicous use of tape delay would be great. Show us more players. And for the pros, putting beyond 10 feet they are expected to miss, so don't waste our time with so much putting garbage. Of course, the networks are being lazy in that they have tower cameras setup by the greens and it's easier for them to show putting than anything.

Today's coverage was nearly Tiger-free.

Tiger needs to maximize, or get much closer than now.

Mickelson is starting do to the Tour what Tiger did to it 10-12 years ago -- bombing the ball past almost everyone else. I hate it when Tiger acts like he is too old to hit the ball farther than most the Tour. I like it when Tiger is smiling and happy (as he was at the SKins game) because he thinks he about to beat the crap out of everyone.

Phil might be working out a little more, but Tiger could still hit it past him.

The PGA should do something similar to what baseball does. MLB creates condensed games that they make available for free. They combine all the important at bats in a game into about a ten minute video.

For golf, they could follow at least one player around and replay his entire round in about five minutes. They could also show the stats from each shot and what club he was hitting.
