Not sure if this should go here but it is part of the golf swing. I feel like i have a problem with my lead rotator cuff. At the top of my backswing it "pops" or "cracks." Kinda like how a knuckle would. It doesn't hurt however it is VERY ANNOYING when you are going to transition to your downswing and your hear "pop." Sometimes it is loud enough my playing partners here it.

Now i am going to the doctor on friday and not sure if he'll send me for x-rays but i did connect this problem to bowling. I'm a left bowling and a righty golfer. I remember back in the fall when i was bowling a lot the "pop" was there but then i stopped bowling. All winter long and early spring i had no "pop." Went bowling again and the "pop" came back. It was only this time did i make the connection.

Anyone have any thing that will strengthen the rotator cuff area? I do a lot of stretching ALWAYS before a round (usually about 20-25min) but not sure on how to help this from getting worse.

thanks

The doctor will probably give you exercises using a theraband, but better find out what the problem with the shoulder actually is before jumping in to therapy.

My problem has been in several areas, but sciaticia down the right leg, and some periformis muscle pain in the right side has been causing major problems. Anyone else with similar problems? Could something in the golf swing be aggravating this area?

Lagster,

Certainly the golf swing can aggravate this. these pains are caused by inflammation and any movement can exaccerbate them. If you have not tried it already, I would seek out a pain clinic where you can get evaluated. If it is truly "sciatica" there are some epidural steroid injections they can do that give people great relief and break that inflammatory cycle. A common problem often mistaken for sciatica is sacroiliac joint dysfunction. You can inject this area as well. I do these injections all the time and can give you more info on them if you would like, just email me.

I hear /feel a popping sound in my left wrist. no pain yet. Been this way for a month.

Also, ever since I have placed my right hand grip in a right arm flying wedge where the clubshaft is in line with the right forearm , the 2 callouses on my middle 2 fingers have torn open and I have developed a never healing blister/skin tear on the lower part of the middle finger nearest to the palm. I will have to use a glove for the right hand also.

My fingers have been much more sore in the past month. Wake up with very stiff fingers, and slightly triggerish. I am obviously gripping very tightly with my fingers, but I do not know how else to do it without the club wobbling/slipping. I have new grips. Might be just psychological. I might be overdoing it with the frozen right wrist concept. enough of the late night ramble insomnia.

Blessing in disguise. It's a built-in tic tac device. Whenever I am gripping too tightly with the left hand, I feel the popping.

Went to the doc....i'm going for an x-ray. We did some tests in the office and he says that due to the lack of pain and the strength in the shoulder there should be no significant damage. He thinks it is cartilage damage from all the sports i've played.

Baseball i threw lefty and batted righty and i bowl lefty as well. All task the same shoulder. Golf too
