Hey, just for fun, I though of have some golf Ranks
like beginner, intermediate, advanced, expert,
or apprentice, journeyman, master

Hacker: new to the game, had no lessons, or minimal instruction and tears up the course, shoots in the 120

Duffer: has played a little, has had some instruction, but flubs shots regularly, shoots in the 100’s

Bogey Man: has some experience and course management skills, typically shoots a bogey on a given hole Shoots in the 90’s

Player: has a polished game Shoots in the 70’s and 80’s

Please provide your comments.

Consider adding a category to separate a player (seventies almost always) from someone who ocasionally shoots in the 70's but ends up in the 80's more often than not. There is a big difference in the game of these folks, imho.

Player in the 80's? I don't see that.

What do you with guys who can hit it well but can't putt? I think categories are an unnecessary, but then what is your purpose?

Around here, you're more likely to get some agreement from descriptions regarding the golfer's main swing characteristics, like an underplaner, or an OTT pull slicer etc.

How about underplane that drags it left and fades it unless he flips it shut a little, who is ok with a 7 iron and shorter and chokes like a yellow dog on the green but plays smart enough to get it around close to 80?

Hacker - no idea, does not keep score and picks his ball up a lot.

Dub - plays by the rules shoots anywhere from 95 - 105

Golfer - tries to practice, plays by the rules shoots 77-95

Low capper - 72-80 back tees

Player/Grinder/Stick(old school) - 66-75 , plays the tippy tips, never gives up
