I think that article is very TGM.

Absolutely - obey the swinging force - rock on a string, pen knife etc.

however you decide to support the on plane force (right side 'hit' or left side 'swing') - the CLUB must swing. Your HANDS must swing.

Then all you need to do is position the 'circle' to ensure greater margin for error - downward compression.
