grip question

Guys,

I have really been struggling with hooking the driver for the last few years and wanted some feedback on my new change. I have tried NHA and NHA 2 both helped but i still have the 1 or 2 bad snap hooks a round. I started a thread a week ago and Brian gave me some great advice on how to reduce my right hand from flipping over causing the hook. It helped but still the 1 or 2 snappers. So today on the course I tried something totally different. I have had a very weak grip for the last few years so I thought it couldn't hurt to strengthen it. It really seemed to help. I wanted to know if anyone knew why it helped and if it could cause problems in the future. Thanks. Kermitm

If you have a *very* weak grip, then you will have to rotate the sweet spot off the plane and square up the club face simply in order to hit the ball anything other than right.

If you then change to a very strong grip, you will have to hold off on everything. Taking away the rotation may remove the possibility of over-rotating and therefore hooking it (assuming your hook is mainly about clubface and not path, which is a big assumption).

Thus, changing to a stronger grip helped you not hook it because it put you in a position where you were rotating a lot less.

Obviously the change *could* cause problems in the future in that you might find yourself no longer compressing the ball crispy because you are holding off so much.

But, as you can see, there are a LOT of variables in play, and we'd need to need to know/see a lot more in order to say anything more definitive. (Well, at least I would!).
