grip question

when I grip my club, there's about a two inch gap between my left pinkie to the very end of the club. In this position, my heel pad is almost at the end of the club (maybe quater inch away). Is this about right?

Look in the achieves, the 6th post down on page 1, The New Manzella Video Answer Movie. Brian explains the grip of the left hand and how it needs to be to support impact. Eric

I like it.

Leo (and others),

For a variety of reasons, most good players grip the club with the little finger of the left hand pretty close to end of the club.

I prefer the whole heel pad to be on the grip, with none "falling over the edge."

Just a teacher's preference, from a teacher. ;)

Thanks Brian

Brian, I have changed from a grip with a tiny bit of my left heel pad "falling over the edge" as you've described, to one where the whole heel pad is on the grip.

My accuracy and consistency has improved as a result (not significantly, but enough to validate the change).

I can see why good players like a little bit of heel pad sticking out, as it's easier to create more acc #2. Any other reasons?

I think it allows for/encourages a "combination" grip.

What's that?

A little of on a shallow angle, and a little of a sharp angle betwenn the left hand and the grip.
