Read in Hogan's book about how he stresses striking the ball with the left wrist bone bowed- with a supinated left wrist. Everytime I've tried it in the past, I hit monster hooks.
I tried it again Wednesday, but this time with a very weak grip-- actually the weakest I could make whilst still having the left thumb slightly clockwise of noon on the grip. For me, this was the key. It opened up the door for me to rotate my left arm as fast as I could while smashing the ball with the back of my bowed left hand. But I have to have my left thumb clockwise of center to have the leverage on the club shaft to rotate the blade back. This necessitates a little space between my left thumb and forefinger.
My left forearm muscles are killing me this morning from hitting balls on the range Wed, Thurs. and Friday like this. Have you ever had a sore left forearm after beating balls?
I've also made some swing changes independent of this as some of you may have noticed in another thread. Perhaps several things are coming together now. I feel that my transition at the top is right when my left wrist start to really cock. Then I fold my right elbow maxing out left wrist cock while firing my hips out of the way.
This is providing me consistent power. Out of a bucket of 100 balls, I may hit with a standard deviation of 20 yards left or right, but they all sizzle with power. I swear I have only fatted 2-3 balls out of my last 300. I'm not shooting darts yet, but the consistent power is encouraging. Is this left arm rotation power a theory espoused by anybody of significance?
