Can you tell me as a general rule when you use the half roll, full roll and reverse roll on sand shots? Also, where do you look at the ball in the sand trap? I know on full shots you look at the inside quadrant of the ball. Thank you.

Full roll in sand shots: Specialty shots wher you need some more "umph" or distance on the shot. For instance say you have a 50 yard wedge shot and you are not comfortable hitting "ball first." You can take some more club and hit a "normal" sand shot but roll it through the sand. It will go further.

Half roll in sand shots: Pretty much standard, where you're only worried about wrists uncocking and no rolling.

Reverse roll in sand shots: Very short shots where a high trajectory is needed and is more important than spin.

Brian's "Over and Out" short game/bunker video covers many sand shots.

Jim...........that makes sense. (about full roll)

Never gave that one much thought.......I guess it would move more sand tho eh....?

Maybe, maybe not but the key distance is that you would take a deeper divot because you should be entering the sand with more of the leading edge than the boucne.
