Hands low feeling at impact

Been experimenting a bit lately and come across something which has really improved my ball striking.

The feeling i have is that on the downswing i drop my hands from the top as low as possible to the ground, then pivot. If i resist the temptation to pivot too early i feel like a sweep action coming into impact that is resulting in great contact with LOTS of extra distance at minimal effort. The angle coming into the ball feels very shallow so to speak.

What have i discovered? as the results are great so not sure whether i should have been feeling this all along !!!

Sounds like you have matched Brian's "down and around component"
I think it is in episode 2 in which he so clearly demonstrates the 2 components. IMO the drop portion of the golf swing is the hardest component to master and it sounds like you found it.

Congratulations!

When a straight line drop runs into a rotating body (in any sport) power is increased dramatically without any additional effort. So keep doing it!

Reisting the temptation to pivot too early is Sooo hard to do though... something i'm going to have to keep focussing on. Like Brian says in one of his videos "some people need to be taught how to just drop the club"...

For me it feels like the clubhead is going to hit the ground near my right foot... scary at first... but it doesn't !!

For me the though has been lately: resisting pivoting my arms while getting my hips moving first. It's scary at first, you think you'll never make it to the ball.
For a couple of weeks I thought I'll never learn. However, slowly but surely I'm making progress.
Last bit that made a difference in getting my hips moving was Brian's video answer about flat right foot. I was hitting small punch & pitch shots in front of a mirror and monitoring my finish position. I realized I was spinning my right heel around and remembered the video. Fixing that made a big difference.
