Hands too far ahead of clubhead

What are the recommended fixes for someone who gets their hands too far ahead of the ball too fast, and as a result either leaves it open and shanks it (way in-out), or hoods it over and smother hooks it?

Having problems with this lately. I'm curious how to get the path straightened out with less hands ahead WITHOUT inducing a flip.

Thanks!

Down arch the left wrist

This really works, I was having the same problems. Down arching the left wrist makes it harder to twistaway. Good for me because I like the wrist action of the twistaway in the backswing, but with a little less twist.
