Haney looks fairly awkward in frames 4, 5, and 6..

actually he makes a 36 handicapper look relaxed.....

the only reason i'm busting him is that about 3 years ago Haney told 20 other golf professionals that I (mikestloc) would be the kind of player who could qualify for the US Open and then shoot a pair of 85s in the tournament - he said this because he thought that the three 5 irons he had just seen me hit had too low of a trajectory....

after 3 shots, Haney "the driver flincher" had already pegged me as an absolute Missed Cut at the Open I had never actually qualified for....

well Hank, I think it's safe to say that most will think you are brave for writing this golf digest article, but if you think that looking at your visor brim is a key to good driving then I think your hourly rate will soon take a nose dive....Tiger or no Tiger....

after looking at your face on swing sequence, i almost had to upchuck.....let me be the first to say that i don't think you could get past local US open qualifying with that action....21 putts couldn't save you ......

the above post was written by mikestloc...not brian...sorry for the confusion...brian had been logged on to my computer a work...

Everyone assumes he's working with Tiger. What are the indications in Tiger's swing that Haney has indeed gotten to him?

I'm not sure he's necessarily working with Hank, but supposedly he listens to a lot of what Mark O'Meara teaches, who has worked a lot with Hank. Haney does preach and up and out motion, or a relatively steep backswing, I think that would accurately describe Tigers backswing.

Mikestloc,
obviously, you have a great golf swing (relative to most of the people out there including me).

But, how was your trajectory with the 5 iron? how much is the carry, and how much roll do you usually get?

Thanks

i hit the ball lower than most......but not that much lower...i carry my 5 iron about 195...as far as how far it rolls...it depends on the landing area...many variables....

haney busted on me in front of every one because he knew brian and i were Golfing Machine devotees......i don't think homer has a classification for looking at the brim of your hat

matt, at the Dallas tournament TW and MO spent several days practising at Haney's grounds with Haney hovering over TW at the tournament range on more than one day. TW says he takes input from a variety of sources, including MO and HH, but then throws out 95% of it.

Swingwise, Tiger is obviously flatter.

Does the TGM swing encourage a lower trajectory ball flight? I was surprised by the instruction I received from a TGM Pro; My trajectoy was alot lower and he said that was perfect, my concern was not being able to hold the greens from shorter range?

Just because the trajectory is lower doesn't mean their isn't as much spin on the ball. I've hit very low 4 irons into greens and they hold

The swing in Golf Digest is pretty rough.

Haney basically teaches something that would pass as swinging.
