Haney & The Big Miss

Well, I like many people on this forum wasn't a big fan of Hank Haney writing a book and divulging more personal stuff about Tiger. I decided to get the book anyway. I'm half way through it and I have to say, I'm really enjoying the book. Much of the excerpts the media called attention to, don't come off nearly as negative within the context of the narrative. Haney shares much of his own personal journey with golf as a player and as a teacher. His insights about Tiger, and the process the two went through to help Tiger learn, trust and implement swing changes under tournament pressure is fascinating. Haney may carry bitterness about his split with Tiger, but honestly, I believe the purpose of the book is to share, in a rather candid, yet respectful manner his experience coaching the best the game has ever seen. I believe any golf enthusiast will find the book to be well worth reading. My admiration of Tiger has grown, not diminished.

Tiger is a more "interesting" person to me now than ever before, but probably for different reasons than you might think. I find him interesting now more for how people perceive or respond to him than for his golf prowess. I admittedly know very little about the man, though probably no less than most, just what you can gleen from watching him, hearing stories, etc. Obviously this won't give you anywhere near a complete or accurate picture of who he is, but if we can assume that all of us on this forum are working with the same sources for forming our opinions of him, it would seem that there are still more Tiger admirers than otherwise around here, which is the part that interests me. I've never been a fan of his and it really had nothing to do with his filandering ways. He just always seemed like a jerk and while I don't condone Haney breaking "the code", what little I have heard of what he wrote, seems to corroborate this perception of him. Some may say that you have to be that way to truly dominate your sport and I think that that argument is garbage. There have been plent of gentleman that have dominated their sports without having to be rude, abrasive and condescending and just plain being a jerk. He's is an interesting sports character for sure.

IMO for what he did and write a tell-all book of his experiences tells me a lot about him as a person and thus whatever he writes (which i won't read) makes whatever he says suspect; that's just me.

Also i guarantee you that Foley has in his contract agreement that says he may not profit via books/movies/TV etc from his relationship from Tiger; Tiger isn't going to get bit twice by this.

I consumed the entire book last night and I was very entertained. The title ends up reading like a justification for Haney's work, but still enjoyed it.

Anyone get their copy from iTunes? I've read reports that they are having problems with missing/duplicated pages. Anyone experience this?
